Brandon Peterson gets MVP of the Week award for West Asia Super League- January 27, 2023
The 32-year old had a double-double of 29 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team beat Al Ittihad (#8, 0-4), the league's bottom-ranked team 100-85. Orthodox is placed at 5th position in West Asia Super League. Orthodox is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-2 record. In the team's last game Peterson had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Orthodox's top player in his first season with the team. Arkansas State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Peterson is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 10.8rpg) and averages solid 55.6% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Kenny Brown (188-G-1991, agency: SLN) of Al Nassr. Brown impressed basketball fans with 27 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Al Nassr lost that game 74-105 to the higher-ranked Al-Manama (#4, 2-2). This loss caused Al Nassr to drop to 7th position in the standings. 3 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Al Nassr managed to get this year. Brown is a newcomer at Al Nassr and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.3ppg (#9). He also recorded 3.5 assists per game. The third best performed player last round was Anthouny Bakar (197-F-1994) of Al Ittihad (#8). Bakar showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the last round. Despite Bakar's great performance Al Ittihad lost 85-100 to the higher-ranked Orthodox (#5, 2-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Al Ittihad can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 4 games. Bakar has a very solid season. In 4 games in West Asia Super League he scored 12.3ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Waverly Austin (211-F-1991) of Al Sadd - 22 points and 18 rebounds 5.
